Mount and Blade is a free third-person medieval roleplaying/action game; the idea is that you start as a squire in the fictional Caldaria, and train to become a knight, gaining followers, weaponery and horses as you go. There's some immense fun to be had, jousting in tournaments, fighting off bandits and completing quests - and up until level six, it's all open. Definitely give it a try.
